Danny Maynard

Meet Danny
I LOVE music from the ’80s, ’90s and right through to today — so when you tune in you'll relive a little bit of your inner youth!
My mission? To make you laugh, smile and forget about the week you’ve just had, before launching you into the weekend with a BIG bang!
I always want to know what YOU are up to, so get noisy, get involved and tell me what you’re doing — because let’s face it… I might just pinch your idea!
Expect feel-good tunes, plenty of laughs, a bit of random gossip and that unmistakable crunchy Friday feeling.
What do you love about Durham and the north east?
I absolutely LOVE Durham! There’s something about the scenery, the atmosphere and, most of all, the people that gives you that proper North East feeling of pride.
There’s always something to see and do — from taking a peaceful rowing boat along the river to wandering around the beautiful Cathedral, discovering gorgeous local shops and stopping for a bite to eat at one of the many fantastic restaurants.
But it’s not just Durham… the whole North East has that special kind of warmth you just don’t find everywhere. We’re friendly, welcoming and, let’s be honest, we LOVE a good natter!
We’re surrounded by so many beautiful places right on our doorstep, from coastlines and countryside to historic towns and hidden little gems.
It really is a special part of the world — properly proud to call the North East home!
How do you spend your ideal weekend?
When the weekend rolls around, you’ll usually find me out and about, exploring somewhere new, trying something different and generally seeing where the day takes me!
I LOVE meeting new people and having a good old natter along the way because everyone has a story to tell — and you never know who you might meet or what you might discover!
And then there’s the food… I’m a BIG foodie and always up for trying something new. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m never actually full because I’m constantly thinking about what I’m going to eat next!
For me, weekends are all about new places, new experiences, good people, great food and plenty of laughs. Basically, if there’s an adventure to be had… and food involved… I’m there!
