Durham OnAir will be LIVE from Staindrop Carnival

Get ready for a spectacular day out at the Staindrop Carnival, taking place on Saturday, 12th July 2025! This highly anticipated event promises to be an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages, and Durham OnAir will be broadcasting LIVE from the event.

The carnival will feature an exciting array of attractions, including:

  • A fun fair with thrilling rides and games
  • A 28-foot climbing wall for adventure-seekers
  • Over 40 stall vendors offering a diverse range of food, drinks, and entertainment
  • A classic car show featuring an impressive collection of vintage vehicles, including tractors
  • brass bands and military reenactment shows
  • Traditional Punch and Judy shows along with a bubble magician
  • Young farmers and their animals
  • A grand procession with a King and Queen, adding a touch of pageantry to the event


The A688 road through Staindrop will be closed to traffic between 12 noon and 5pm. Diversion signs will be in place directing carnival goers to the main car park situated at Staindrop Academy school.

The carnival will be hosted by local radio station, Durham On Air, ensuring a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the day. Damian Robinson, Matthew Donnachie and Stuart Laundy will be broadcasting live from the event as well as presenting the days proceedings. 

In addition to the main attractions, visitors can also participate in a village raffle for a chance to win exciting prizes. Other notable attendees include Northumbrian Water, Durham Police, EE and Go Fibre, who will be present to provide information and support.
