Whats on in County Durham this weekend?

Every week we work with Visit County Durham to discover what you can explore from your door. We collected the best walks, rides and attractions, as well as a selection of fantastic events that are happening over this weekend.

Walk Of The Week:

Blue Plaque Trail – Barnard Castle
The Blue Plaque Trail provides information on the people and places whose contribution to
the history of Barnard Castle has been commemorated by blue plaques erected by the
former Barnard Castle Urban District Council or its successor, Barnard Castle Town Council.

Beauty Spot Of The Week:

Hedleyhope Fell Nature Reserve
One of the largest mid-altitude heathlands remaining in County Durham, Hedleyhope Fell is
a mosaic of heather, bilberry, acid grassland, rush pasture, bracken beds, patches of gorse
and scattered trees. https://www.thisisdurham.com/things-to-do/hedleyhope-fell-nature-

Attraction of the week:

Museum of Archaeology at Palace Green Library
Much of Durham’s history lies beneath our feet. Sometimes we can catch a glimpse of the
past through the unique objects that are uncovered as the result of archaeological
excavations, or are unearthed by chance by members of the public.
In this gallery, we explore artefacts that span 250,000 years of history - from Prehistory to
the Romans. https://www.thisisdurham.com/things-to-do/museum-of-archaeology-at-palace-
